There’s no offseason for donuts. And Shaquille O’Neal is always spreading his love for a dream sugar glaze. However, it was his sinister laugh that accompanied the Halloween season years ago. It really blended donuts and trick-or-treating into the perfect combination. October is incomplete without reliving Shaq trying to look evil while offering some donuts.
Behind the villainous laugh, he’s a big softie. And he’s made Atlanta’s Halloween sweeter by restoring its sugar glaze haven in time for ‘spooktacular’ treats.
Shaquille O’Neal made donuts a Halloween staple
Krispy Kreme enlisted Shaquille O’Neal for an ad in October 2018 and Halloween changed since then. This understated ad has become an annual entertainer during the season of pumpkin spice and falling leaves. It’s that time of the year again and once again fans have brought it back.
Whoever is a Big Diesel fan at ‘Sportscenter‘ posted the 2018 clip with the caption, “We don’t deserve @Shaq.” It carried another comment that read, “It’s traditional to watch this video every Halloween.”
In his regular black t-shirt, Shaq is in a sunny neighborhood while he advertised Krispy Kreme’s Halloween promotion. Krispy Kreme added special Halloween-themed donuts like the Jack-o-lantern and the Chocolate Ice with a Disney villain laugh.

Though the bright neighborhood and comical attempt to laugh like a jack-o-lantern pumpkin make him less than scary, Shaq’s become a huge Halloween personality. His costumes, Halloween celebrations, and Shaqtoberfest are now regular features of spooky season along with this hilarious 2018 ad.
His commitment to Krispy Kreme and making people happy is also unmatched. He’s put joy and sweetness back in Atlanta by reviving one of the oldest Krispy Kreme stores there.
Shaq makes a historic comeback in Atlanta
Krispy Kreme and Shaquille O’Neal commemorated their partnership with the Los Angeles Lakers legend taking over the donut titan’s most famous store in Atlanta, Georgia in 2016.
The Ponce de Leon store in Midtown Atlanta is historic for many reasons. Locals have been visiting this place for decades and the Krispy Kreme here is part of several childhoods. This store burned down in 2021. There were no casualties except property damage.
Shaq immediately thanked first responders and promised Atlanta residents that he’d restore the Ponce de Leon store as soon as possible. He came through by revealing the restoration plans in early 2023.
Krispy Kreme was back with a bang at Ponce de Leon on October 10. The company offered multiple promotions to celebrate the historic return. Shaq has also been beaming proud about the revival.
